Interestingly, it is the stories, that guide our daily actions, which are responsible for making ourselves, our fellow humans and our planet sick.
The good news is: Stories are inventions. They are made up. And we have the mental power to make up stories that serve us, that heal us and our planet.
Everything begins with a thought. A thought might turn into an idea. An idea might be the first seed for a story. A story can inspire and open windows and doors. A story can shape our lives and our world. We can change the stories that damage us and our planet, and we can create those stories that shape a world worthy of a species who has the capacity to think, who has the ability to use their imagination, who is capable of creating instead of destroying, who has everything it takes to empower instead of throttling.
Many stories tell of how humans fail, how they betray each other, how they let each other down, how terrible we are. To quote from The end of all wars, planet one, The roots of war:
‘Maybe that’s who we are: a vicious, self-important, small-minded species of destructors with a superiority complex, derailed by self-harming greed — a species where no individual can help being devastatingly cleverer than everyone else.’
Several of us shook their heads in protest, and all of us began to talk at once until one of us said loudly: ‘We obviously have the potential to be terrible, and maybe that is our curse, but we also have the potential to address whatever it is that makes us fight, exploit or develop a superiority complex.’

It is time, we had stories of how we end wars, first one, then two, then all of them. It is time that we had stories of how we wake up and finally decide not to keep exhausting ourselves and destroying the basis of our lives. It is time that we had stories where we reclaim the narrative and shape a world we are proud of and happy to live in.

I hereby invite you to pick a topic and illustrate in a story how you would deal with it. Or to create a planet and tell the story of how the people of that planet dealt with the topic of your choice.
The stories that fill our minds have a great influence on our actions. Let’s fill our minds with ideas of how we can do better.
